EPG and XMLTV Guide Tools

EPG is the program schedule of channels and is usually distributed as an XMLTV file. For the guide to work, the tvg-id of every channel in the M3U list must match a channel id in the XMLTV. These tools automate the matching, validate the files and fix time problems.

EPG and Guide Tools

Why does EPG not match?

The most common reason is that channel names are written differently: 'TR: ATV HD', 'ATV' and '┃TR┃ ATV ᴴᴰ' are the same channel but a plain text comparison does not match them. Other reasons are a wrong tvg-id, a channel with the same name from another country and time zone drift.

Göktürk IPTV's own EPG matching rules were derived from real lists: prefixes, emoji, brackets, quality tags and ordinal numbers are stripped, then exact, loose and fuzzy matching stages are applied. The same logic runs in these tools.

The XMLTV file format

XMLTV is an XML format that keeps channels as <channel id="..."> and programs as <programme start="..." stop="..." channel="...">. Time values look like 20260101200000 +0300. Files can be large; the tools process big files in the browser as well.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my EPG guide empty?

Usually the tvg-id does not match, the EPG address is wrong or the file has expired. The EPG URL Tester and the M3U EPG Matcher show the cause.

The guide times are off, what should I do?

The EPG Offset Calculator finds the difference and the EPG Time Shifter corrects all times in the file. A time offset setting in the player can also be used.

Where can I find my own EPG?

The Göktürk IPTV app offers ready-made EPG packs per country. Open-source projects such as iptv-org also produce XMLTV.
